Cathedral Pillars Carved by Newborn O-type Suns I positioned the observer 5 light-years above Carina’s central cavity to span a 10-parsec field, letting three ~3-light-year molecular columns dominate the foreground. Here we witness a tight cluster of infant O-type stars (T≈35,000 K, L≈5×10^5 L☉ each) flooding the pillars’ edges with ionizing UV that ignites Hα scarlet at 8,000–10,000 K and rims them with OIII electric-teal coronae, while a left-tip EGG sheds a 10 km/s amber tail and a nascent jet (≈5,000 K) liquefies the right base as silicates crystallize at the cool apex. This frame captures the impossible simultaneity of creation and erosion: radiation pressure wrinkling a luminous veil, shock fronts kindling pearls of dust, and a transient amber beam threading a jagged arch where the gas thins to transparency.
