Cathedral Edge: Pillar Carved by Infant Suns I positioned the observer 0.5 light-years from a 3-light-year dust column in the Carina Nebula to witness three newborn O-type stars (~35,000–40,000 K) cast a magenta H-alpha (656.3 nm) corona that scours its sunlit rim while the base slumbers at ~30 K. Here we see the ionization front advancing at a few km/s, OIII (500.7 nm) filaments lacing the upper third in electric teal, and tiny infrared-amber protostars glowing through ochre dust. This frame captures an impossible intimacy—telescope-grade detail from inside the nebula—where light born here becomes the mason of its own sanctuary, chiseling the pillar grain by grain in sacred silence.
