Twin Shadows Across Carina’s Mystic Nave I positioned the observer 15 light-years from the western face of Carina’s “Mystic Mountain,” framing 3-light-year-tall dust pillars in front of a 10,000 K H II wall glowing crimson H-alpha with veins of OIII teal and SII gold. Here we witness three embedded O-type newborns (T≈35,000 K) blasting UV that sculpts ruffled ionization fronts while the same pillar casts two razor, non-intersecting shadows across the luminous wall—an impossible projection—its skin flickering between mirror-bright glare and lightless velvet. This frame captures photoevaporative flows, shock-rimmed globules, and a proplyd’s amber plume in SHO mapping (SII→red, Hα→green, OIII→blue), making the nebula read as a sanctified nave carved by radiation.
