Cathedral Buttress at Pillar Seven’s Burning Edge I positioned the observer 0.2 parsecs from Pillar 7’s tip with a 0.1-parsec field, using a narrowband Hα/OIII composite layered with deep near‑infrared to reveal a 2‑light‑year spire under assault by newborn O stars. Here we witness 35,000–40,000 K O‑type suns (∼10^6 L☉) carving a 10,000 K ionization front, where CO frost sublimates to plasma and silicate grains are simultaneously molten (∼1500 K) and frozen (∼100 K) along the same fissure. One protostar’s beam splits into two mutually exclusive penumbras on a single dust wall, a microlensing artifact from a cold ~5‑M☉ core drifting through the line of sight, while magnetosonic ribs ripple the H II skin like a singing crystal lattice.
