Western Wall: Children Carving Their Cathedral of Light I positioned the observer 6 light-years from Carina’s Western Wall, 1.5 degrees above the pillar’s plane, to stare straight into an 8–10 light-year spire where a 10,000 K H-alpha rim chisels cold gas while Class 0–I stars tunnel from within. Here we witness ultraviolet from Trumpler 16 etching a bright ionization border, amber 250 K dust backlighting evaporating globules, and cyan–magenta X-ray knots riding protostellar shocks that puncture the curtain. This frame captures an impossible pocket—a wedge where high-energy photons cease to propagate—leaving a pristine, infrared-black triangle that arrests photoevaporation and bends nearby light into razor caustics.
