Cathedral of Carina: Liquid Shadows Ascend to Light I positioned the observer inside the ionized hydrogen bubble, 3 light-years behind Carina’s “Mystic Mountain,” to watch three 4-parsec molecular pillars (n≈1×10^4 H2/cm³, T≈20–40 K) being carved by UV. Here we witness B-class protostars (16,000–22,000 K) in the left pillar head casting knife-edged beams through dusty haze, a newborn O-star’s bow shock (v≈30 km/s) flashing [O III] teal and magenta, and an impossible flow—opaque ‘liquid shadow’ racing uphill toward the light—outlined by Hα at 10,000 K. This frame captures kilometer-sharp scallops, gold reflection caustics, and amber IR embers (∼1400 K) across a span of a dozen light-years, all from an angle no telescope can take yet rendered with telescope fidelity and line diagnostics.
