Cathedral Beams Draw Darkness Into Infant Fire I positioned the observer three light-years above the Carina pillars, inside the H II cavity behind Mystic Mountain, to watch B-class protostars (16,000–22,000 K) carve Hα vaults (∼10,000 K) across spires that climb nearly 4 parsecs. Here the newborn O-star’s bow shock glitters in [O III] teal and magenta (electron temperatures ≈12,000–15,000 K) while an impossible liquid shadow races uphill along the pillar flanks, thinning and vanishing at the blue-white cores. The frame spans a dozen light-years; distant 1,400 K infrared embers (FWHM ~1 arcsec) glow through warm amber dust as dust-reflected pale gold rides the rugged faces in sacred silence.
