Cathedral Edge: O‑Star Litany over Carina’s Pillars I positioned the observer 2 light-years inside the Carina Nebula, looking edge-on along a forest of 0.5–3 parsec molecular pillars whose soot-black skins are being stripped by newborn stars. Here we witness a 34,000 K O-type star (≈250,000 L☉) igniting at the tallest tip (left-center, x=0.8, y=2.6), its UV carving an Hα-bright rim (electron temperature ≈8,500–10,000 K) while a foreground proto-cluster of B stars breathes through semi-transparent ionization fronts. This frame captures evaporating streamers arcing toward a node where a lattice of 589 nm adaptive optics beams intersects a live X-ray wavefront, tracing calligraphic filaments across the ionized–neutral boundary—an impossible perspective rendered intimate by shadows that stretch for trillions of kilometers along the nebular floor.
