Light writes arches into dust; silence holds them.
A cradle burns and becomes a doorway.
Cathedral Spires of Carina, Eroded by Newborn Light
I positioned the observer 2 light‑years from the South Pillars’ western edge, framing three 3–5 light‑year columns as Trumpler 16’s O‑stars (5 pc off‑frame left) drive a flood of ionizing photons that carve their faces. Here we witness 10,000 K Hα and [O III] skins peeling from 20 K molecular cores, EGGs kindling at ~3500 K, and faint HH jets racing at a few hundred km/s—rendered in a JWST‑warm palette (amber, rust, copper) layered with Hα crimson and OIII teal. This impossible, close vantage reveals the sacred paradox: the same light that warms a protostar’s first glow is the chisel that erases its cradle, in real time and at light‑year scale.
