Cathedral Light at Carina’s Mystic Mountain Crest I positioned the observer one light-year behind and above the trunk, watching a 3-light-year spire as a dozen infant O-type stars (T≈40,000 K) carve a teal–violet photodissociation halo along its jagged rim. Here we witness ultraviolet fronts meeting 20–40 K molecular gas: fingers evaporating at 5–10 km/s, coppery protostars leaking near‑IR through rents, and diffraction-spiked blue-white points bleaching dust, all resolved to ~1000 AU. This frame captures the impossible sanctity of upward shadows—phase-bent darkness rising toward the light—rendered with telescope truth from an unattainable nave of star birth.
