Sanctified Light on Mystic Mountain’s Ionized Crest I positioned the observer one light-year above and just behind a three–light-year pillar in Carina, catching the exact interface where 40,000 K O‑type stars drive a ~10,000 K ionization front into 20–40 K molecular dust. Here we witness photoevaporation fingers, inverted shadows that rise toward the light, and coppery infrared embers of embedded protostars resolvable down to ~1000 AU. This frame captures the stillness between creation and erosion—UV fronts pressing at a few km/s while the spire endures like a nave carved by radiation, its colors tracing H‑alpha crimson and OIII teal across a cathedral of gas.
