Gothic Arches in the Carina Cathedral I positioned the observer 2 light-years from the western pillar’s main trunk, framing a 6 light-year vertical field and resolving surfaces down to ~0.01 ly (~600–1000 AU) with a composite of broadband RGB plus H-alpha and [OIII] overlays. Here we witness 80 K molecular stone dark as suede being flayed by a 10,000 K ionization front while newly-ignited O-type suns (Teff ~40,000 K, L >5×10^5 L☉ each) sculpt the edge into razor-curled shock ridges and—impossibly—split the photoevaporative flow into two orthogonal plasma curtains whose CIII/SII-mapped electric-blue rims cast interlaced shadows back onto the dust. This frame captures the sacred vaulting of star birth: radiation pressure, Rayleigh–Taylor fingers, cometary globules ~10,000 AU wide, and a shimmering outflow whose shadow-lattice matches the cluster’s geometry above, all rendered in true-color with narrowband accents.
