Cathedral Pillars Carved by Infant Suns' Breath I positioned the observer 3 light-years above Carina’s mid-plane, catching three 6-light-year molecular pillars in sharp profile against a cluster of O-type stars (T≈40,000 K, L≈10^5 L☉ each) that flood the scene with ionizing UV. Here we witness H-alpha skins (≈10,000 K) scalloping and ablating the pillars while a 13 K Bok globule dissolves, its rim traced by [OIII] at 500.7 nm; in the foreground a 10 cm aluminum calibration sphere chills to 80 K, mantled by 2 mm of fresh ice. This frame captures an impossible intimacy with stellar birth—the sacred quiet of matter being rewritten by light—rendered from a vantage no telescope can occupy, with colors tied to physical lines and temperatures.
