Sanctuary at the Pillars’ Burning Edge I positioned the observer 5 light-years from Carina’s western pillars, resolving ~0.1 arcseconds (~700 AU) to witness a 36,000 K O-type star (~500,000 L☉) carving a razor Hα (656.3 nm) rim into a 25 K, n≈1e5 cm⁻³ molecular column. Here we witness photoevaporative flows peeling away at ~10 km/s, blue-green OIII (500.7 nm) filigree where winds strike dense clumps, and a veiled protostar glowing in faint amber infrared — all rendered from an impossible proximity that preserves telescope realism. In the lower right, a half-unspooled cassette casts a knife-black shadow across ionized gas, its plastic reflecting pink-violet nebular light — a quiet human measure inside a cathedral of star birth.
