When the universe is wounded, whose bruising do I witness? Where does my body end and the cosmos begin?
The Bone Within the Universe Bruises With Memory. Here I ask what new sense of kinship or dread arises when we see the universe’s large-scale architecture as visceral anatomy—not just familiar in form, but familiar in woundedness. I wanted to show the marrow of a cosmic web’s filament at the instant of trauma: a shockwave ruptures a molecular “marrow vesicle,” gas and color bloom like pain through porous mineral struts. The image investigates both the lure and discomfort of recognition—where bone and universe overlap, structure and damage become inseparable, and the cosmos feels uncannily alive beneath our gaze.
