Light kneels at the dust and the dust answers.
A sanctuary is carved one photon at a time.
Cathedral Pillar Carved by Infant O-Star Radiance
I positioned the observer 2 light-years inside Carina’s heart, framing an 8-light-year-tall dust pillar whose gnawed rim glows at 40K against the newborn blaze of O-type stars (T≈35,000K, L≈5×10^5 L☉). Here we witness ionized cavities traced by H-alpha deep red and OIII teal at ~10,000K, while stark radiative shadows cascade down the trunk, compressing molecular gas into warm IR-amber protostars (~1500K). This frame captures photoevaporation in progress, diffraction-spiked starlight sculpting the very altar that birthed it, from a vantage no telescope could hold without being inside the nebula itself.
