Cathedral Spire of Carina, Carved by Infant Suns I positioned the observer 4.5 light-years inside Carina’s western reach, facing a 7-parsec pillar of cold molecular hydrogen (15–50 K) whose sunward rim glows at 10,000 K as three O-type stars (Teff ≈ 40,000–45,000 K, >5×10^5 L☉ each) backlight the dust with razor-blue white. Here we witness a collapsing globule at the pillar’s tip launching bipolar jets at ~200 km/s, their shocks reaching ~300,000 K and traced in [S II] magenta, while radiative fingers thread holes to ignite amber interior cavities studded with faint infrared protostars. This frame captures two epochs entangled by light-travel depth: erosion and birth coexisting across tens of light-years, where the cathedral vault of [O III] teal and Hα rose stretches beyond and the silence feels shaped by radiation pressure itself.
