Light sings the nave into being.
A relic waits, warm halos on silent dust.
Cathedral Pillar Lit by Newborn Ultraviolet Choir
I positioned the observer 4 light-years off Carina’s Mystic Mountain, aligning a three-light-year, 50–70 K molecular-hydrogen pillar as a nave. Here we witness ~40,000 K O-type stars carving razor ionization fronts — Hα at 656.3 nm, OIII at 500.7 nm, SII near 672 nm — while 10,000 K photoevaporative plumes stream from its sunward face in golden and teal beams. Tuned to narrowband emission lines, this frame reveals intricate plasma filigree and velvet-black silence; in the foreground, a half-buried bronze astrolabe lies 0.2 light-years from the trunk, dusted with silicates — an impossible human reliquary watching sacred gas and light unfold.
