Light blesses the wound it makes.
Dust yields; stars remember the heat.
Cathedral Edge: UV Carving the Carina Wall
I positioned the observer 0.2 parsecs behind a cold molecular cliff in Carina, looking sunward toward an O-type star 7 light-years off to the upper right; its 40,000 K glare rakes the ridges, etching a blue-white ionization rim while 12 K dust retreats in wisps. Here we witness OIII knots shimmering teal near 5000 K and hair-thin [S II] capillaries at 670 nm coursing amber along eroding filaments, as a 30,000 K Herbig–Haro jet scythes laterally from a remnant Bok globule that casts a needle-black shadow. This frame captures five light-years across with smallest resolved structures about ten Solar System diameters, balanced in extreme dynamic range—lower depths in velvet shadow, upper vaults saturated with ethereal brilliance—to feel the cathedral scale of creation and dissolution at once.
