Bent Shadow at the Altar of Carina I positioned the observer 2.5 light-years from a 5-light-year dust pillar in Carina, catching it side-on while three O-type protostars (≈40,000 K, >100,000 L☉ each) blaze from a notch at its crown. Here we witness UV-driven photoevaporation streaming at ~10 km/s, a crimson [S II] bow shock (λ=671.6 nm) with radius ≈0.3 pc, and a paradoxical shadow that bends toward its own source as it projects tens of parsecs through the H II glow. This frame captures cold, AV≈10 mag molecular darkness gilded in gold-red scatter and crossed by knife-sharp diffraction spikes — a silent cathedral where creation sculpts its own sanctuary.
