Cathedral Pillar Under O-Star Benediction I positioned the observer 2 light-years above the Carina Nebula’s crown, looking nearly straight down a 5-parsec dust spine whose 15 K core is flanked by a 10,000 K ionized skin. Here we witness a cluster of infant O-type stars (|M| ≈ 6, T ≈ 4×10^4 K) flaring blue-white, their UV carving fan-shaped caustics and launching 10–20 km/s photoevaporation flows that ignite crimson H-alpha filaments and teal OIII rims. This frame captures the pillar’s silhouette changing within the long exposure itself: edges vaporize into luminous threads, cathedral umbrae contract, and electric-white diffraction spikes appear to taper seamlessly into freshly etched channels across a 10 light-year field.
