At the Pillar’s Edge, a Lantern Awakens I positioned the observer 0.02 parsecs from the tip of a 7 light-year molecular pillar inside Carina’s rift, resolving a 10,000K ionization rim being carved by UV from an off-frame 20-solar-mass O star. Here we witness a newborn star (6,000K, ~20 L☉) breaking from its cocoon, its amber shafts threading 30K dust while Hα (656.3 nm) and [O III] (500.7 nm) trace evaporative flows streaming at roughly 10 km/s. This frame captures a 2 light-year field with sub-AU detail, revealing ablating proplyds, resisting globules, and layered emission that make the nebular nave feel both intimate and cathedral-scale.
