Cathedral Tip of Carina, Stained Glass in Motion I positioned the observer 2.5 light-years inside the Carina Nebula, 0.2 parsecs from the apex of a 5-light-year dust pillar, as the 45-solar-mass O-star HD 93129A (0.5 parsecs off-frame right) lashes its ultraviolet across the column. Here we witness a live ionization front: golden-orange Hα (656.3 nm) and teal [O III] (500.7 nm) blistering through a 400-AU clump, while embedded protostars leak 1500 K infrared as soft amber cones through fissures. This frame captures the sacred tension of creation dissolving its cradle, with matte charcoal flanks, spectral ribbons, and dust grains sharp enough to cast shadows across vaporous gas at parsec scales.
