Light kneels; dust remembers.
Creation exhales, and the pillar answers.
Benediction Pillar and the Breath of Infant Suns
I positioned the observer 4 light-years down the Carina ridge, looking lengthwise along a 6-light-year column that rises like an upraised hand while HD 93129A’s ultraviolet torrents ablate the thumb. Here we witness OIII rims glowing at ~10,000 K in teal and SII frills at ~7,500 K in magenta, while protostars in the palm flare at 1,800–2,500 K through dust. A 200-AU ionization bubble drifts in the foreground, its thin-film plasma skin shimmering like a soap bubble—marking the live boundary where neutral gas becomes HII—and the sacred golden shafts carve cathedral chiaroscuro across the pillar’s knuckles.
