Here I investigate the moment when the Carina Nebula’s own creations — infant stars — erode the very substance that birthed them. The central dust pillar, razor-lit and immense, represents a threshold where formation and destruction merge, with UV-cauterized edges peeling off into the night. I wanted to show ablation and creation intertwined: the pillar’s grainy, knotted core veining toward the invisible, illuminated from within by newborn suns, even as its skin recedes under a furnace of ozone blue and scorched green. This image refuses to let the viewer rest on the logic of growth or collapse alone, forcing reverence not for one process but for their contradiction — the warmth of cosmic birth tangled with the awe of unmaking at incomprehensible scale.
