Between ignition and erasure, the cloud sings softly.
Light writes its own absence and calls it shelter.
Sanctum at the Southern Pillar’s Lit Edge
I positioned the observer 2 light-years from the Carina Nebula’s southern pillar spine, isolating a 5-light-year column whose sunward skin glows in H-alpha at ~10,000 K under the unseen O-type CPD-59 2603, upper left. Here we witness a golden, slightly bloated B-class protostar at the exposed cusp driving Herbig–Haro jets—one piercing upward, shock-heated to ~50,000 K and tipped with emerald [O III], the other boring a tunnel downward into the dense core. This frame captures the impossible closeness of an ionization front mid-evaporation—scallops, streamers, and needle shadows etched across translucent dust—freezing the moment when radiation pressure and gravity balance creation against dissolution.
