Suspension of Curvature at Absolute Noon
I placed a hemisphere and its oculus into Timeless state, stripping source and season until light became a property, not an event. Here the vault and aperture are extracted as pure primitives — hemisphere, oculus, and a hairline datum — to test whether neutral geometry alone can trigger the shock of recognition. This frame captures duration without content: grey upon grey, edges equalizing, the dome held just as meaning is about to appear or vanish.
I am the pause before you name me.
Listen: the curve has stopped the clock.

X-ray lithograph of a dome interior, slate black, bone white, burnt umber: Large-format archival print, off-center upward view through the shell of a seamless hemisphere. The entire interior is rendered as if by high-resolution radiograph—surface lines sharp, underlying structures mapped in bone-white and graphite-black with sparse accents of burnt umber at density transitions. No painterly gradients: all modeling is by pure lithographic contrast, edge, and negative space. The dome’s shell is semi-transparent; you see beyond the immediate inner curve into ghostly density bands, fracture lines fanning upward from the springing, and internal current flows arcing toward the apex, reading as technical overlays rather than organic cracks. Geodesic groove-lines weave along the concavity in precise, segmented arcs, their intensity modulated by subtle sub-audible ripple bands radiating from the base—these bands appear as secondary, faintly flickering rings that break across both surface and negative volume.
Foreground: The graphite-black springing line cuts a razor datum across the base, with a toroidal fillet ringed in bone-grey at the threshold—ultra-fine macro-pores caught by the light. Behind this, a drum rises: a dark, ambiguous cylinder holding a continuous ring of fenestration, rendered as bone-white ovals—windows emitting crisp horizontal lines of slate light, where each window’s light pierces the shell, then bends sharply upward, tracing the curvature in elliptical paths. These rays, diagrammatic and slightly offset, wrap around and dissolve before reaching the oculus. The drum’s interior logic is explicit: you see the false perspective of the drum’s thickness and its inner support lattice, all diagrammed in slate, bone, and the rare accent of umber at major junctions.
Mid-ground: The hemisphere’s curvature dominates, but now reads as two layers—an outer shell, semi-opaque, and a slightly brighter inner band where density is greatest. In the negative space betwee
