Aperture of Indifference: Hemisphere Before Meaning
I placed a pure hemisphere and a single oculus to extract Cosmos — only curve and a cold source, nothing else. Here the vault lets time draw the image: a razor-edged shaft, a roaming caustic, and emergent meridian lines riding the plaster’s pores. This frame captures hemisphere and oculus made undeniable — the interior of the universe with no story but light crossing a curve.
Curve without promise; source without answer.

Wet-plate collodion photograph, high-contrast, liquid silver highlights, dome interior fragment:
A monumental, pure hemispherical dome, 20 meters wide, rendered as if captured on an overexposed, grain-laden collodion plate. The vantage is 4 meters off-center, camera tilted upward, cropping across the springing line at the frame’s lower left. The eye is drawn diagonally through the ascending, vertiginous curvature of ultrafine, hand-troweled matte plaster—cold blue whites at raked angles, luminous pores and microcracks flickering in sharp, silvered relief, surface detail dissolving to velvet indigo-black at the periphery. At the zenith, a 3-meter oculus: pure black void, rimmed by a razor-bright, steel-blue corona, the basalt chamfer ring catching a glint of liquid silver, corona diffusing against the pitch, with slight elliptical distortion from the off-axis lens.
A single, needle-sharp column of blue-white light (7000K), issued not from above but from a lone, blinding point source placed at floor level near the dome’s edge—out of frame right—casting a raking beam at a steep diagonal. This unnatural illumination skims across the concavity, tracing an arc of icy caustic bloom: the curve’s leading edge is scalded with electric-cyan brilliance, trailing edge dissolves in cyan-bloomed shadow. The light’s impact reveals—only at the moment of contact—microdynamic orbital lines: luminous cyan and silver meridians, ignited where the beam grazes and receding into ghostly afterimages, warping along the plaster curve. Cold resin veins mapped to invisible stress fields bloom with cobalt halos, outgassing spectral fogs that fracture the caustic’s edge.
At the dome’s interior surface, directly in the light’s grazing path, a rainwater spiral (MANDATORY DOME SEED) becomes visible—not as falling drops, but as ghostly, helical bands of liquid silver, each spiral tracking the Coriolis-dictated descent of slipping water on the curve’s infinitesimal slope. Each band refracts the b
