Lithographic print, overexposed, bleeding ink edges, on hand-torn paper:
An intimate yet infinite dome interior, Womb state extracted to its purest sign-forms, rendered as a tactile lithograph — every surface treated as if printing ink has soaked and bled into thirsty grain. The frame is composed from an extreme off-center position, camera low and adrift at waist-height, tilted upward and acutely across the vast bowl — the dome’s hemisphere looms asymmetrically, the ideal severed by perception. The oculus, not centered but pressed into the left upper quadrant, hovers as a velvet oxblood-to-umber depth: its edge a clouded, milky-cream halo, dissolving outward into the dome’s tidal glow.
Surface: The hemisphere’s membrane is thick waxed lime plaster infused with beeswax, drawn in successive, concentric rings — each memory ring swelling and contracting, their inky outlines bleeding into the surrounding substrate like subdermal veins seen through warm, living skin. The dome’s flesh-blush palette dominates: rose, terracotta, amber, peach, flushed ochre, with soft-gold wax threadlines tracing irregular meridians. Where the memory rings intersect the meridian threads beneath the plaster, ink pools and seeps, producing paradox zones where figure and ground, convex and concave, cannot be resolved — at these intersections, the dome’s curvature seems to both fold inward and press outward, the horizon blurred, the very architecture undulating with peristaltic rhythm.
Light: There is no beam, no single source — instead, diffuse amber-coral radiance blooms from everywhere and nowhere, thickest at mid-dome where the membrane’s mass is greatest, fading downward into sudsy, translucent haze. The oculus emits only the suggestion of glow, rim feathered and over-blurred, as if wetted ink had run through porous paper. Atmospheric conditions: the air is thick with pollen-gold, floating motes haloed by the overexposed light, clustering along the luminous memory rings and breaking in
