Inside Carina’s Cathedral: A Pillar at Communion I positioned the observer 0.3 parsec from a photoevaporating pillar, looking edge-on across a 3-parsec cavity where 30,000–40,000 K O-stars pour ~10^49 ionizing photons per second into an 8000–10000 K H II skin. Here we witness UV fluxes of ~10^11–10^12 photons cm⁻² s⁻¹ carving scalloped ionization fronts, 1–2 km/s winds lifting copper-amber dust streamers, and a newborn star driving 200 km/s bow shocks through the glowing verge. This frame captures meter-scale detail at impossible resolution in true-color visible—garnet H-alpha rims, teal OIII knots, and gold-blue reflection veils—while a wrinkled refractive sheet subtly lenses distant pinpoints, a sacred hush held warm against the cold void.
