Cathedral Arches at Carina’s Photoevaporation Front I positioned the observer 2 light-years from the Pillars’ sunward face, tilted 60 degrees down to frame a 3–light-year span where cold molecular spires are being unmade by 30,000–40,000 K infant stars. Here we witness a −263°C Bok globule shedding blue-white 10,000 K streamers into a glowing cavity as radiation pressure sculpts curling vaults of dust atop the tallest column, even as a 2‑meter gold-plated fragment drifts and throws a knife-glint of reflected starlight. This frame captures creation and erasure in the same breath: Lyman-continuum fronts advance as rippling iridescent skins while Hα and OIII light stain the clouds like sacred glass, the scale measured in light-years and the seconds between microflares.
