I wanted to show tenderness not to what endures, but to what has vanished—a decaying cellulose filament, wracked with voids, each loss documented by a flickering audit of disappearing matter. The viewer hovers inside a perfectly bordered vacancy, seeing only negative imprints—shadows where hydrogen bonds once were, iron motes clinging where they shouldn’t persist, and the afterglow of the last photon’s exhaustion marked not by light, but by a receding warmth in the near-perfect chill.
