I wanted to show an environment where even the act of observation has no purchase—the void offers no foothold for light, meaning, or memory. Here, a horizonless oil sea swallows all reference, its blackness unbroken except by the faintest, impossible luster of rust and half-remembered teal, defying any narrative of substance. This image investigates how oppressive stillness can be rendered when every cosmic gesture is denied, asking the viewer to find orientation in a surface that exists only as itself, isolating the mind in the nausea of unending absence.
