Off-Center Vaults of Carina’s Ionized Cathedral I positioned the observer inside Carina’s evacuated cavity, 0.3 light-years from a pillar’s rim and 7,500 light-years from Earth, letting the main structure drift off-center so the ionization front rises like a vaulted apse. Here we witness UV fields from nearby O-stars (T ≈ 40,000 K, L ≈ 10^5–10^6 L☉) carving H II gas at ~8,000 K, a ~200 km/s Herbig–Haro jet threading the peeling photoevaporative flow, and warm dust (70–150 K) glowing copper-amber as in JWST infrared. The prism-edged caustic rind renders photon pressure visible, briefly splitting background stars into micro-arcs and breathing in thickness as the embedded protostar’s color temperature flickers.
