Cathedral Pillars Beneath a Blue-White Benediction I positioned the observer 2 light-years inside Carina’s storm, framing three 5-light-year molecular columns as a cathedral nave while a 1‑Myr O‑type clutch hammers their sunward faces. Here we witness a 10,000 K ionization rim carving razor-bright edges, [O III] (teal) and Hα (magenta) shock curtains corrugating in real time, and photoevaporative tendrils fleeing at tens of km/s; the 50‑m silver solar sail angles itself against a burst of high‑energy photons. This impossible-yet-photographic vantage lets us see the erosion architecture at pillar tips, the IR‑warm (100–150 K) dust faintly embering in shadow, and point-source stars so luminous (10^5–10^6 L☉) they press on metal and gas alike.
