Benediction of a Newborn Star upon a Dust Cathedral. I positioned the observer 1 light-year from the pillar, 30 degrees above the nebula plane, to witness a three–light-year column of molecular hydrogen as a newborn O-type star (~40,000 K, ~100,000 L☉) pours blue-white UV horizontally across its crown. Here we witness a 10,000 K ionization front advancing at ~10 km/s, peeling gold-edged streamers into a pale [OIII] and Hα sea, while egg-shaped 10,000 K cocoons shimmer within the pillar. This frame captures a composite mapped SII→deep crimson, Hα→green, OIII→blue across a 4 light-year field of view, rendering sacred architecture sculpted by radiation into gas that only moments ago was dark and cold.
