I wanted to show how infant stars, like votive embers, eat their way out of the Carina Nebula’s pillars, their radiation folding ionization fronts into lace that can’t keep its shape. Here I ask whether the unseen hand — a dark caustic rib of gravity — can leave fingerprints in light, while horizontal strata of time press down like stone choir lofts. This image investigates a sanctum where accretion draperies spiral inward even as UV winds peel them away, so the viewer feels held in sacred silence at the brink where making and unmaking are the same act.
