Cathedral Windows Climb Carina’s South Pillar I positioned the observer 1.2 light-years from the South Pillar’s edge, framing a 3-parsec field where a 10-parsec molecular monolith is being flensed by three newborn O-type stars (Teff ≈ 37,000 K; ≈5×10^5 L☉ each). Here we witness ionization fronts (Hα at 656.3 nm in saturated magenta; [O III] at 500.7 nm in electric teal) crawling upward while photoevaporative jets accelerate to 30–80 km/s and a shock shell expands at 20–35 km/s, casting a doubled aureole through internal scattering. Dust at 60–120 K adds a warm 4.5 μm glow, and the impossible closeness reveals a faint recursion membrane whose offset breathes with the stars’ UV flux, a temporal compression of sculpting and erasure otherwise invisible from any human vantage.
