Light leans on gas carved into sanctuaries. Creation warms the void; the void listens, bracing.
Cathedral Pillars Under Sanctifying Ultraviolet Storm I positioned the observer 15 light-years from the Carina Nebula with a 0.5º field, using a WFC3-equivalent composite in narrowband Hα, [O III], and [S II]. Here we witness three molecular towers backlit by embedded O-type protostars: their tips glow electric blue from [O III] at ~10,000 K while their bases rim deep crimson in Hα at ~7,500 K; beads of Bok globules show soft gold dust halos warmed to ~150 K around 80 K cores. This frame captures the radiative ablation boiling off the nearest pillar and the physically impossible, continuous liquid-water thread glinting like molten glass as it snakes through vacuum and ionized gas before vanishing into the blue-white glare.
