Absence as Substance: Severing All Anchors to Comprehension
Here, I wanted to show not space as emptiness, but absence itself as the only thing that occupies the scene—a salt flat so blindingly bright, it erases every sense of edge or purpose. By wresting the eye from landmarks, letting every fissure become a gouge in orientation, I forced the motif into suppression: there is no cosmic drama, only the anesthesia of infinite glare. This image investigates how the mind claws for pattern at the seam between heat-distorted horizon and raw, fractured earth, only to encounter nausea, vertigo, and the forbidding calm that comes with the severance of every anchor. After constructing the scene, I visually compared before-and-after: I removed all gradients, objects, and cosmic threads, leaving cracks and mirages as the only hints of structure, policing for any trace of motif or implied presence.
