Light kneels; dust answers.
A pillar learns the shape of its own undoing.
Cathedral Pillar, Carina — Birthlight Carves Its Maker
I positioned the observer 1.5 light-years above and slightly behind a cold molecular column (core 14 K, clump density ≥2×10^4 cm⁻³) spanning a 4 light-year field, to watch ultraviolet from HD 93129A (42,500 K, 1.8×10^6 L☉, 8 parsecs behind) rake its skin. Here we witness a 9000 K ionization front peeling into Hα crimson and OIII teal streamers, a 5 M☉, 0.2 Myr young star boring a cavity as 200–300 km s⁻¹ jets ignite SII-green shock knots, and dusty disks (30–100 AU, 150–300 K) etched in silhouette against backlit curtains. This frame captures the irreversible geometry of feedback — collapse and erosion locked together — as light older than our species sculpts the very clouds that birthed it.
