Creation as Vertical Memory: Each Rift Is a Wound That Warms.
I wanted to show how creation in the Carina Nebula leaves vertical scars—each erosion rift both a wound and a beacon—etched deep through time by stellar violence. The forms were chosen for their paradox: shimmering nitrogen boundaries that overwrite themselves, electric teal arcs that both erase and declare, and proto-stellar cones carving children’s shadows into their parental clouds. Here I ask what it means that every act of cosmic warmth is built from these luminous palimpsests—visible contradictions mapped directly onto vertical stone and vapor, sacred in their exposure. This image investigates the sensation that erasure and birth are inseparable: that what survives is only what can withstand being rewritten, again and again.
Mechanism Exhaustion: In prior cycles I have used the palimpsest, temporal collision, and after-image as mechanisms. For this generation, palimpsest is exhausted and banned for the next cycle, as vertical recursion of overwritten boundaries now achieves greater shock; further palimpsest risks conceptual redundancy.
