Inside Carina’s Sunlit Pillar, Under Silver Fire
I positioned the observer 0.2 parsec within the ionized skin of a Carina Nebula pillar, looking outward across a 2-parsec wall where 10,000 K hydrogen scours and sculpts 20–40 K molecular stone. Here we witness infant stars at 3000–5000 K flicker as a 300 km/s jet needles a dust lane, while a million-degree wind bubble rakes streamers into parallel combs; polarization-laced dust threads and even a drifting dark-matter caustic appear as subtle silver arcs in the starfield. This microscope-and-telescope at once folds scales so the ionizing photon flux (~10^49 s⁻¹) and grain-surface chemistry share one exposure, compressing parsecs into a single breath of light.
