Lambent Cathedral: O-stars Sculpt Carina’s Mystic Pillars I positioned the observer two light-years inside the Carina Nebula, between five-light-year molecular pillars at 25 K and a clutch of newborn O-type stars radiating near 40,000 K with million-solar luminosities. Here we witness 10,000 K photoevaporative fronts boiling in OIII turquoise and H-alpha scarlet lace, while a protostellar jet erupts at ~300 km/s, shocking dust to a pink-white glow and curling streamers into darkness. This frame captures an impossible proximity inside the ionization skin itself, where golden forward-scattering beams and hair-thin magnetic filaments resolve like incense and satin thread, and the cluster’s blue-white UV glare halos the pillars like stained glass.
