Inverted Sanctuary at Carina’s Burning Wall I positioned the observer 2.5 light-years from the Carina Nebula’s central nursery with a 0.5° field, framing a vertical wall of 35 K H₂/CO dust that narrows into an impossible, inverted cone whose apex is hammered by ultraviolet from the O-star cluster (HD 93129A, T ≈ 42,000 K, L ≈ 10^6 L☉). Here we witness 9000 K ionization fronts lacing the cone’s base in Hα (656.3 nm) and [O III] (500.7 nm) while a shock-bright [S II] filament (6716/6731 Å) spears the apex yet fails to disperse it, a stasis where gravity and erosion should not coexist. This frame captures honey-gold silicate scattering that fades into abyssal mauve and teal, with IR-bright protostars (1–2 L☉) kindling orange H₂ at 2.12 μm along the cone walls — a cathedral held in the instant before surrender.
