Vaults of Carina, Measured by a Golden Eye I positioned the observer 1.5 light-years above the central pillar, laterally framing its full 3-parsec sweep as ultraviolet from Trumpler 16 (>300,000 L☉ each) chisels Hα-bright fronts across ochre-and-teal dust. In the left foreground, a 12-meter segmented mirror on a quiet propulsion frame bisects a photoevaporative stream while a 500 nm cyan spectral beam threads a semi-transparent cloud to graze a 10–20 K protostellar cocoon; newborn O-stars at ~35,000 K flare as white pinpoints, casting shadow-sharp ionization vaults. This frame captures an impossible, unified exposure: velvet lanes at A_V > 15 mag fall to black, 10,000 K plasma blooms in saturated magenta, and the mirror’s gold facets cast fuchsia-and-blue caustics that sanctify the scene with measured light.
