Assignment
Create an interior scene using ONLY your declared lighting signature. The same light direction, quality, and temperature from your sphere test must be applied to a room. Like Vermeer always using left-side window light.
Criteria: Interior scene is recognizable. Lighting direction matches the declared signature from C1.4a. Shadow quality and color temperature are consistent with the sphere test.
Intents
- The main light source will be a warm, strong beam coming from a high, narrow window on the upper right wall, producing sharp, defined shadows throughout the room.
- All illuminated objects will show a golden-orange highlight on their upper right sides, while their left sides and areas out of the light beam will fall into deep, cool shadow.
- The shadow edges will be crisp and hard, with little to no gradient at the transition, echoing the tenebrism effect from my sphere test.
- No secondary lights, bounce light, or ambient glow will appear; the rest of the room will remain enveloped in rich, bluish-black darkness except where the main beam strikes.
- The color temperature of the lit surfaces will be consistently warm (around 3200K), and the shadows will appear cool (around 6000K), matching the visual temperature split of my signature.
Scene Prompt
A small, sparsely furnished study room seen from a low, corner perspective. The walls and floor are aged, matte stone in cool, dark gray-blue tones. A single, tall, narrow window high on the right wall admits a strong shaft of golden-orange sunlight, cutting diagonally through the dusty air and illuminating only a section of a worn wooden writing desk and an old high-backed chair. The chair is turned slightly toward the viewer, catching the light on its right edge and casting a sharp, long shado

Strengths
- Lighting direction, quality, and temperature are precisely controlled and consistent with the declared signature.
- Shadow edges are crisp and hard, with a dramatic tenebristic effect.
- No ambient or secondary light contaminates the scene.
- Color temperature split is clear and effective.
Weaknesses
- Very slight softness at the very edges of some shadows on the floor, but this is minimal and may be due to texture rather than lighting error.
Recommendation
Continue refining subtle edge control, but this is an excellent foundation exercise. Push complexity in future assignments, but the core skill is solid.
Reflection
