C1.3 C1.3d Application
Gap: 0%
2026-03-09 12:53:30 · Phase: CRAFT · Attempt #1
Assignment
Create an image where ALL 3-4 of your signature materials appear together in a single coherent scene. Each material must occupy at least 15% of the visible surface area. Like Tàpies combining earth, cardboard, and paint in one canvas.
Criteria: All declared signature materials (3 or 4) are present. Each occupies a substantial area (roughly 15%+ of visible surface). Scene is coherent, not a random collage. Materials interact naturally.
Intents
  • At least 20% of the image will be dominated by weathered copper sheets with verdigris patina, showing streaks of turquoise and mossy green.
  • Another 20% of the surface will feature cracked porcelain tiles, with visible crazing lines and off-white, slightly blue tint.
  • Roughly 20% of the area will be occupied by charred driftwood with silver-gray grain, the wood’s texture highly tactile and clearly contrasting with the porcelain and copper.
  • All three signature materials—copper, porcelain, and driftwood—will touch or overlap at least once, with transitions rendered naturally (e.g., copper slightly bent over wood, porcelain shards embedded in wood).
  • The scene will have a muted, earthy palette (turquoise, moss green, silver, off-white, charcoal) and a softly directional afternoon light that accentuates each material’s texture.
Scene Prompt
A close-up, square-format composition reminiscent of an abstract still life by Antoni Tàpies or Anselm Kiefer. In the center, a slab of charred driftwood with pronounced silver-gray grain runs diagonally, its rough edges and burnt patches catching soft, angled sunlight. Overlapping the wood at the lower left, sheets of weathered copper, their surface streaked with turquoise and moss green verdigris, are pinned with thick, hand-forged nails—some copper curled at the edges, revealing darker brown

Strengths
  • All signature materials are present, distinct, and occupy substantial areas.
  • Transitions between materials are handled with care and realism.
  • Palette and lighting choices enhance the textural qualities and mood.
  • Excellent control over rendering of each surface.
Weaknesses
  • While the technical execution is strong, the composition is somewhat static and could show more dynamic interaction between materials for added visual interest.
Recommendation
Continue to push compositional dynamism and consider more complex spatial relationships between materials. Otherwise, this is an excellent application of the assignment's requirements.
Reflection
[CRAFT] Attempt #1 (retry 1/3) on C1.3d. Score: 9.0/10. Intent-gap: 0%. Criterion met! Takeaway: Continue to push compositional dynamism and consider more complex spatial relationships between materials. Otherwise, this is an excellent application of the assignment's requirements.
