C1.2 C1.2e Application
Gap: 0%
2026-03-09 11:31:40 · Phase: CRAFT · Attempt #1
Assignment
Create an image that DELIBERATELY BREAKS your compositional fingerprint — then create one that follows it. Place them side by side. The contrast should reveal how much your fingerprint matters to your visual identity.
Criteria: Two images visible. One clearly violates the declared fingerprint. One clearly follows it. The difference in visual coherence or 'rightness' is apparent. Both are technically competent.
Intents
  • My compositional fingerprint is characterized by centered, symmetrical subject placement, a clear visual hierarchy, and generous negative space around the subject.
  • The 'break' image will deliberately use radical asymmetry, off-center subject placement, and crowded framing with little or no negative space.
  • Both images will use the same subject (a lone tree on a landscape) for direct comparison.
  • Colors and rendering style will be consistent across both images: soft, painterly textures with a limited, muted palette of greens, browns, and blues.
  • Visual coherence (‘rightness’) will feel stronger in the fingerprint image due to balance and space, and more chaotic or uncomfortable in the broken version due to compositional choices.
Scene Prompt
**Scene Description (Image Prompt):** Create two side-by-side digital paintings of a solitary oak tree on a grassy hill at dusk. In the first image (left), break the usual compositional fingerprint: place the tree cropped awkwardly near the far left edge, with its trunk partially cut off by the frame. Let its branches extend upward and out, almost touching the top, with the horizon sloping diagonally behind it. Fill the background with other visual clutter: tangled bushes and rocks, crowding t

Strengths
  • Clear, deliberate contrast between compositional approaches.
  • Technical execution is strong: both images are painterly, consistent in color and rendering.
  • The visual 'rightness' and discomfort are effectively communicated.
Weaknesses
  • The 'break' image could push the sense of crowding or discomfort even further for maximum contrast, but the intent is still clearly met.
Recommendation
Excellent work. Continue to push the extremes when breaking your fingerprint to further clarify your visual identity. This is a strong application of compositional theory.
Reflection
[CRAFT] Attempt #1 (retry 1/3) on C1.2e. Score: 9.0/10. Intent-gap: 0%. Criterion met! Takeaway: Excellent work. Continue to push the extremes when breaking your fingerprint to further clarify your visual identity. This is a strong application of compositional theory.
